Venice Couple Now Wed 50 Years


More than 150 friends pay tribute at golden anniversary.

Honoring fifty tears of happy wedlock, ecemplified in the persons of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Thomas, 824 Woodlawn avenue, Venice, nore than 150 friends, relatives and guest paid tribute last Thursday to the qualities of mind and heart in this coupes that have enabled them to live in harmony for even half century.

Many Floral expressions of friendship and respect were tendered. Mr and Mrs. Thomas, as well as many more substantial gifts, most prized among which was a gold bond of large demonination and a life membership in B. P. O. E. lodge No. 810, Pontiac , Michigan, of which Mr. Thomas is a charter member.

Among then many guest at the reception held Thursday afternoon from two o'clock until nine in the evening, were people from Pontiac, Michigan, Pasadena, long Beach and Venice.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were married in London, england, February 1874, coming to the United States the following June. The newly wedded couple settled in Pontiac, Michigan, immediately taking out naturalization papers and becoming citizens of this country.

Later Mr. Thomas founded the Thomas Furniture Company, of that city. This concern is still maintaining a flourishing business in Pontiac.

Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Thomas, son and daughter-in-law of the old couple, and four children, were present at the anniversary Thursday. They plan to remain here for the balance of the winter season and are living at 1614 Shell Avenue.

W. D. Thomas, another son, also present, has returned to his home in Pontiac.

Other children of the couple at the reunion were: Harry Thomas, who holds a prominent position with the Edison Company of Long Beach; Mrs. Thomas Rogers, of 2412 Walnut Avenue, and Miss Jennie Thomas, who is associated with the City Hall Dry Goods Store on Venice Blvd.
