MichiganThree Ineffectual ShotsAn Oakland County Farmer Tries To Kill NEighbor, His Wife and Child
Pontiac, Oct 29 - Last night Amos Swan and Winfield Scott, of Bloomfield, were making preparations at the residence of the latter to go fishing, when some difficulty arose and Swan drew a revolver, as it was reported, and shot once at Scott's child and once at Scott's wife, without effect. Then he pointed the revolver at Scott's head and Scott struck the revolver with his hand just as the weapon was being discharged, and received the bullet in his right hand. Scott is not so disabled, but that he can be around today. Swan was arrested last night by a Pontiac police officer and put in jail To-day Scott made a complaint against him for assault and intent to murder. Swan was arraigned before the magistrate and a day set for his examination. The two parties to this fracas were neighboring farmers and the whole community is startled by the occurrence.
