Another Account
Pontiac, Nov 17, - To-day Richard Sanbrook and his wife, of Bloomfield, were coming to Pontiac with a team and double buggy about noon and had to cross the Detroit, Grand Haven & Milwaukee Railroad track about two miles south of here at what is known as Hadsell's crossing. Just at the time of the 11 o'clock passenger train came from the west and struck the rig and instantly killed Mr. and Mrs Sanbrook and both horses and compleletely demolished the buggy. One of Sanbrook's feet was cut off and the other leg broken. Mrs. Sanbrook's skull was crushed in. Mr. and Mrs Sanbrook were old people, about 75 years of age, and had resided on their farm in Bloomfield for over fifty years. They were somewhat deaf and as there was a deep cut in the direction of the approaching train they did not see it in time to stop. The train was about half an hour late and was running down a grade at full speed. The danger was not seen by either the train men or the Sanbrooks in time to avoid the collision. The remains of Mr. and Mrs. Sanbrook were taken to Birmingham. The deceased were well known and highly esteemed by a large circle of acquaintances in Oakland County.
