Died August 18, 1951 in Korea Private First Class Nicolai was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on August 6, 1951 and died of those wounds on August 18, 1951. PFC Nicolai was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
