Charles Adams who was last Sunday interred in our cemetery was born in East Bloomfield, New York May 31, 1811 and died Pontiac, Michigan 2 Nov 1899.
Mr. A spent may years of his life in this section having come with his parents and their family to the old house when this country was a wilderness. Only two houses were in Rochester at that time. His education was acquired at Oberlin College. He graduated from the theological department with the first class that left that institution. He then met and married Miss Carter of New England. Then followed seven years in the Congregational ministry. His health failing he returned to the home that has so long been in possession of the family. As a man he was always known as a lover of justice and identified himself with the anti-slavery movement, the cause of temperance and never lost his interest in all church work. Nearly fifty years of his life was spent near Rochester and he regarded the place and his friends her to his last moments with intense affection.
A son Charles P. Adams of Detroit and two daughters, Mrs. Sydney Adams of Marquette and Mrs. Joseph Hawley of Ann Arbor mourn his loss.
