John Powers Richardson

John Powers Richardson, born in Woodstock, Vermont, Aug 23, 1792, graduated at Dartmouth College in 1816; read law with Israel Putnam Richardson and Judge Asa Aldis of St. Albans, VT and Hon. Herman Allen of Milton, Mt. and practiced law in Burlington, VT., and removed to Pontiac, Mich. in 1837; was deputy Collector at Sault St. Marie from 1845 to 1848, prosecuting attorney and commissioner for Chippeway County, and master in chauncery for Oakland County, all in Michigan; left Pontiac for Leavenworth, Kansas, in 1854 and died there Sep 8, 1866. His mother, Mary Powers, was the daughter of Stephen Powers, Surgeon in the Revolutionary War, of Woodstock who was the grandfather of the eminent sculptor, Hiram Powers, of Florence, Italy.
