This gentleman, the father of Mrs. A. J. Welsh, was born in Norwich, Connecticut, and settled in Monroe county, New York, on reaching his majority. He was a veteran of the war of 1812, having served in that conflict under General Hopkins. He married Abigail Day. a native of Vermont, who had removed to Munroe county. They removed to Michigan in 1847, and settled in Novi, on the homestead now occupied by their son, George Dennis. Both are now deceased, Mr. Dennis having lived to the age of eighty-three years.
